Ocular Plastic Surgery

Ocular Plastic Surgery is the specialized renovation or rejuvenation of the skin and muscle tissue around the eyes. Such treatment can range from injection therapy to extensive reconstruction. Sneed Eye Associates and Outpatient Surgery Center offer a variety of ocular plastic procedures.

Botox Injection
The injection of Botox is widely utilized to decrease signs of aging around the eyes. This medication can dramatically reduce or eliminate facial "frown" or "laugh" wrinkles. The injections are performed in the clinic. Dr. Priscilla Arnold will be happy to perform an evaluation and discuss this procedure with you.

Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and tissue from the eyelid area. Most people develop skin and muscle laxity of the lids with age, however, in some people changes can occur early in life. In some cases, this laxity causes interference with vision. For others, it is simply a matter of desiring a better cosmetic appearance. Commonly known as a "lid lift," this surgery can be performed on the upper or lower lids.

Ptosis
This word describes weakness of the muscles of the upper eyelid causing "drooping" of the lid. It is most commonly seen occurring with age, but can even be present in very young children. Surgery tightens the lid muscle to correct this problem.

Reconstruction
There are a number of degenerative or scarring conditions that cause damage to the eyelid area. This can lead to the eyelid turning in or out, and can be quite irritating as well as cosmetically unacceptable. Many times these problems can be corrected or improved by reconstructive plastic surgery.

Outpatient Surgery Center
For the convenience of our patients, all orbital plastic surgery can be performed at Outpatient Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art facility. These types of surgery are performed under local anesthesia and sedation, to deliver the care with attention to comfort and safety for our patients.
